Candi Staton

  • The Best of Candi Staton [Warner Archives, 1996] **

Consumer Guide Reviews:

The Best of Candi Staton [Warner Archives, 1996]
dance hits that got lost between soul and disco ("Victim," "Honest I Do Love You," "Young Hearts Run Free") **

Further Notes:

Subjects for Further Research [1970s]: Maybe she really is a victim of the very songs she sings--though not that one, or "Young Hearts Run Free." But her reputation for stiffing onstage makes me think there's something radically self-effacing about her--something the richest and sexiest voice can't quite make up for.
