Sweat Band [Uncle Jam, 1980]
The all-instrumental intro is the P-Funk horns as the Mar-Keys introducing Otis, and since Bootsy claims this light funk as his own concept quote unquote, don't blame George if Otis never shows. Influences include Herbie Hancock, the 5th Dimension, and a mambo of unknown origin. Best moments are a second-drawer rifftune called "We Do It All Day Long" and Bootsy's Ian Dury impression. C+
